19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev secured his first title for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has had a difficult period, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - caused him falling of the top ten and finally parting ways with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden championship since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from spring of that year.

The win also signifies he has achieved 21 championships at 21 different tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is particularly special," commented ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in Halle in the past months.

His defensive strategy and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had led observers to question if his ability to compete at the highest level was over.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his first ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to create a final set.

He saved 4 early break points in a close deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner clinched victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
